ILONA O'CONNOR
VISITING NURSE
BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS

After 25 years on the street as a visiting nurse in inner city Boston, I am a little worn around the edges. Winter is a particularly challenging time; carrying bags over mounds of snow and just trying to find a place to park. The Natural Love and Awareness Meditation is an integral part of my own "treatment plan."

As I go from home to home, I have the luxury of those few minutes when I am waiting for a patient or family member to open the door. In this time I pause to recall my benefactors and make a wish for the well being and happiness of the people I am about to meet. There are more and more instances when I can feel the inner shift from self concerns and my own small thinking to a deeper level of awareness and presence. The joy of sharing in that gift is what sustains me in my nursing profession and motivates me in my practice.
